Opportunities to curate, place and steer Public Art
My passion for contemporary art was initiated as a teenager during a visit to Toronto, Ontario as the city’s public art drew my attention alongside the modern architecture. A few years into operating Plus Gallery, I was asked to join the Denver Mayor’s Commission of Cultural Affairs, a position that influenced my career through deepening my experience and understanding of how public art can manifest in an official capacity. The opportunity to engage on several review panels allowed my confidence to develop and eventually resulted in directly steering several public art initiatives outside the City’s purview. The sections on this page reference four central opportunities that have had direct impact on the city of Denver’s culture and downtown neighborhoods. Most recently, my work with Denver Digerati has provided an ongoing context to curate digital animation that is presented to the public daily in downtown Denver via outdoor LED screens as a unique form of public art, my proudest initiative to date.
